It has ten large levels of action, exploration, secret hunting, and a decent story too. I only paid 7 dollars for it on the 30% off sale and it's definitely worth it. It's got more enjoyment and content than games I've paid a lot more for. There are a couple negatives but they're overshadowed by the massive number of positives. One thing that didn't bother me but may bother those more used to a fully narrative driven or extremely linear game is that it starts off almost peaceful before it really ramps up. I liked that as it let me acclimate and explore on my own for a bit but it may seem off to some. I don't consider this an actual negative, but something to be aware of. I felt the boss fights were a little too long, they weren't bad per se but just felt like they outstayed their welcome. It can be a little difficult to pick certain objects that you can use out of the background clutter of props, which while not overly bad, can make finding what you need a little difficult at times. Lastly, while the weapons were solid, I wish there were more, the fact that we had weapons for 1-4 and then 6 and 7 was a little odd too, skipping 4 like that. These minor issues do not harm the game much at all though.The good far outweighs the bad. It has a really cool hand drawn style that I quite liked; from the quite attractive main character Zan, to her equally appealing orc and goblin allies, the various enemies, and the locales, the world felt coherent and vibrant. The various pinups you can find were nice touches too. The enemies were varied enough to make me want to switch my weapons based on what I was fighting, and there were a lot of useful items ala games like Heretic and Hexen that I found many uses for. The main character moves quite fast which is a must for a good FPS game, and makes her fun to play. The levels were varied enough that even with common themes, I never got sick of them. I never crashed or had any other issues barring one weird bug that I was able to isolate and report so hopefully it will be fixed so it runs well and no serious issues at all.In summary, if you like solid, fast moving shooters that are just fun to play and challenging, get this game. It's up there with the classics like Doom and Quake and also such great new titles as Dusk and Project: Warlock. Love my time playing this title.. I am pretty green when it comes to old style shooters like this. But it feels like I am lost so often. Like, SO often. combat feels good, but more like a bullet hell (ending bath house fight) at times as opposed to DOOM fighting.. A great blend of adventure and atmosphere. The level design, the world building, the mechanics, everything is extremely polished and adds up to way more than the low price suggests. An easy recommendation for pretty much everyone.. This game is great! It's like the atmosphere of a cartoony Arx Fatalis mixed with the game play of Doom. I love this game and can't wait to finish it!. I definitely recommend this game and I've enjoyed it thus far. The gore is well done (I love gore in my games). The combat feels good because movement and aiming is smooth and the weapons feel powerful and rip through your enemies pretty easily, at least on normal difficulty. The combat feels similar to Blood and that's a good thing. The game's architecture and music are also very cool and unique and help create the atmosphere of the game, making you feel as if you're in a strange fantasy world. My only gripe with the game is that it's a little like Hexen or Heretic at times, meaning you have to find keys and items in a large map and backtrack (sometimes a lot) to proceed in the game. I honestly would just like to kill things. Fortunately, you are given a very detailed map and once you get a key for specific doors, those doors are labeled on the map. Still I've gotten stuck several times, but you if you try to pick up everything you come upon and read the little notes and journals in some of the rooms, you usually won't have much trouble moving forward in the game. Most of the time it's simple. Just a heads up--The first level is slow and has hardly any enemies as you are introduced to the mechanics of the game, but after that, it gets better and better. Don't give up on the game before it blooms into a beautiful bloody flower. Trust me, after the first thirty minutes, you will meet plenty of cultist to gib with your flak gun. Or you could cut them in half with your axe. Whatever floats your boat :). Solid & Pretty Throwback-FPS -- Somewhat Slow & Methodical level design -- Reminiscent of HeXen (in both a good and bad way)This game looks fairly good. Considering that this game is basically a grown-up Doom-mod resting on a supped-up Doom engine this game looks f*cking fantastic. Not only that, but the controls are nice and tight and the weapons (at least those that I've unlocked so far) feel nice and meaty.One thing that I will say is that the level design seems more Aesthetic than Practical. They show an immense attention to living detail, with actual restrooms being in evidence in lived-in spaces, but I often find myself rather lost. Though a healthy map-sense is a hallmark skill for classic shooters, the levels in Hedon seem to be taking the p*ss a little too much.This design facet seems quite reminiscent of the level design principles of HeXen. While HeXen presented us with some of the most visually striking architecture of the original Doom era games, it also presented us with an infuriating button-hunting game-cycle. Button-Hunting is not compelling game play. Hedon is no-where near as bad as HeXen was in the tedium department, but it is still a damn-sight slower paced than most classic/throwback FPS games, so if what you're into is the high-octane constant splatter-fests of some older games, Hedon might not be your ideal cup of tea.All-in-all, I'd recommend giving your money to this developer, if only to validate games as an art-form.. I love 90s styles FPS games like this and I hope this game sees more popularity.. a great game that brings back the feeling of the good old days where gaming was good if you like doom or duke nukem but dont worry after the first level the game goes into the real mode making it 30/30/30% exploring shooting puzzels and 10% something here a link to a video that shows you how to beat level one if you got stuck and fear the refund clock but trust me you wont refund it or at least you should not trust me its worth every penny here the video of level profesionell the game is higfhly configurable (more then some triple A games of these days) and i bet everyone can play it at 4k just dont forget to put the ui scale slider on 50 or 75 (less makes it bigger control the slider with arrow keys or A/D)this is no game where you rush through you have to look around sometimes and read at least a bit i caught my self sometimes going very slow around corners the game has some kind of stealth mechanic when you not shoot and not being seen by the enemy you can stealth kill them with your fists punching them to death but there is not really need for stealthyou have always ammo and the first gun already is very good my favorite a spikegun you can even ironsights with it wich makes it then fire in burst mode i believe all weapons have a secondary firemode the shotgun (or flakcannon) has a flamer as secondary firemode and there animations gunsmoke and other effects are very cool for such a game same goes for there soundthe other sounds in the game and the music are also very good they make a big portion of the atmophere yeah idk what to say else besides get hedon folks be a bit patient and you will find a game you had not believed in first Slow starter, but once it gets going it's pretty damn good. Got stuck on a few areas for longer than I'd like to admit. But all in all it's a good old school shooter with some new ideas.
